Cancun Mexico A Place to Party and Relax
Cancún (pronounced can-koon) is a coastal city in Mexico's easternmost state, Quintana Roo. It is the municipal seat of Benito Juárez municipality and a world renowned tourist resort with modern beachfront hotels surrounded by the Islas Mujeres (Women Island), the Caribbean Sea, and the Nichupte and Bojorquez lagoons. The mainland downtown commercial section (Cancún City), connected to the island by two bridges, has broad avenues lined with shops, restaurants, and hotels.
The older section of the city, which follows the original master plan, consists of neighborhoods called supermanzanas (superblocks) that are formed by the intersections of the boulevards. They are characterized by winding streets with cul de sacs that tend to keep out the main flow of traffic, and usually have one or more parks and other green spaces.
In order to save on the cost of installing sewage systems and other public services, the design of much of the rest of the city reverted to the grid plan after Hurricane Gilbert (1988). The newest upper-middle-class residential areas reflect the original plan, but are much less initimate. Less expensive developments are comprised almost entirely of identical one- or two-story small row houses, sometimes built around interior plazas. Almost all buildings on the mainland are under four stories high.
Cancun activities
There is more to Cancun than plopping yourself down under a palapa (thatched roof). Downtown offers a more authentic glimpse into the sights and sounds of Mexico. For scuba diving and snorkeling, the reefs off Cancun and nearby Cozumel, Puerto Morelos, and Isla Mujeres are among the best in the world. Cancun also makes a relaxing base for venturing to the stupendous ruins of Chichen Itza, Tulum, and Coba, remnants of the area's rich Maya heritage.
Taking the highway south from Cancun you will reach the Riviera Maya. This highway is 100 miles long and will take you to the archaeological site of Tulum. About halfway along the highway you can call into Playa del Carmen, once a sleepy fishing village and now a bustling tourist town with a distinctive European flavour.
Between Playa del Carmen and Tulum you can stop off at a number of sandy beaches and sometimes have them all to yourself. On some of these beaches you can find a small restaurant serving freshly-caught fish right there on the sand with your toes still in the water - heaven.
Tulum is the only city that the Mayans built on the sea. It provides the best photo and video opportunity imaginable, with its green grass, ancient buildings and the turquoise sea with its white-tipped waves forming the perfect background.
Along the same highway you will find the eco-parks of Xel-Ha and Xcaret. Watching out for the homemade signs, you can also discover some very interesting fresh-water cenotes (natural sinkholes), in which you can swim and snorkel surrounded by lush jungle.
Enjoy Your Trip to Cancun Mexico !!!

Going to Turkey
Well I don't have too much knowledge about traveling in Turkey. Although it is a Muslim country I believe that it is not as radical as some of the other middle eastern countries. part of what makes me so interested in traveling to Turkey is how mysterious it is and how interesting middle eastern life interests me. Not so much that I would want to live in Turkey, but more of how they live and interact with one another.
COUNTRY DESCRIPTION: Turkey is a moderately developed nation with a wide range of tourist facilities of all classes in the main tourist destinations. Read the Department of State Background Notes on Turkey for additional information.
ENTRY/EXIT REQUIREMENTS: A passport and visa are required. Currently, holders of all types of passports can purchase a 90-day sticker visa at the port of entry for $20 cash if they are traveling to Turkey as tourists. For further information, travelers in the U.S. may contact the Embassy of the Republic of Turkey at 2525 Massachusetts Avenue, NW, Washington, D.C. 20008, telephone: (202) 612-6700, or the Turkish consulates general in Chicago, Houston, Los Angeles, or New York. Information may also be found at Internet address http://www.turkey.org/. Overseas, travelers may contact a Turkish embassy or consulate.
Holders of official and diplomatic passports on official business must obtain a visa from a Turkish embassy or consulate before arrival in Turkey.
All travelers planning to stay more than three months for any purpose are required to obtain a visa from a Turkish embassy or consulate. Such travelers must also apply for a residence/work permit or Turkish ID card within the first month of their arrival in Turkey. This includes anyone who plans to spend more than three months doing research, studying, or working in Turkey.
All travelers are advised to obtain entry stamps on the passport page containing their visa at the first port of entry before transferring to domestic flights. Failure to obtain entry stamps at the port of entry has occasionally resulted in serious difficulties for travelers when they attempt to depart the country. In addition, all travelers are photographed upon entry at the airport in Istanbul.
Crossing the border with Iraq can be time-consuming, as the Turkish Government tightly controls entry and exit. All travelers wishing to cross into Iraq from Turkey must still have a valid travel document, such as a passport, to enter Iraq from Turkey. Travelers wishing to enter Turkey from Iraq must have both a valid travel document and current Turkish visa.
Surrounded by four different seas, Turkey is a beach paradise with over 8000 km of sunny strips of sand. It also has an abundance of plant and wildlife species that can be enjoyed while camping or trekking in the many national parks which are dotted around the country.
Home to more than 20 different fascinating civilizations, Turkey has a 10,000 year-old heritage, much of which is still being uncovered. Its rich history is very much part of the present, with temples, ancient theatres, churches, mosques, tombs, statues of gods, palaces and fortresses, and of course the many detailed and fascination museums which bring the past to life.
Each area has its own personality, history, landscape and even cuisine, and with so much on offer to visitors.
And of course in cities like Istanbul, there is a modern, lively ambience of contemporary society living alongside tradition, where art and music can be enjoyed whether it belongs to today or yesteryear.
If one were to claim that the most scenic vistas in Anatolia can be found on the coasts of the Aegean, he could not be accused of exaggerating. In the words of Herodotus, the Aegean coasts "have the most beautiful sky and the best climate in the world." The bays and peninsulas, coves and golden beaches stretch the length of these beautiful shores.Well that was a little bit about traveling to Turkey. That would be a fun trip I hope that others might share their experiences with me.
